Requirements and Challenges

Fruehauf Wielton is the manufacturer of semi-trailers and trailers for trucks. They produce more than 4,000 semi-trailers annually just in France. The trailers and semi-trailers production are mostly composed of many different welding processes. Therefore, the welding smoke and fume was a big problem for Fruehauf Wielton.

The welding shop is running two or three shifts per day, during the year. The welding smoke and fume is created almost all around the production plant. Therefore, it was impossible to create a welding fume extraction with typical extraction arms or hoods.

Solution

  • VANTERM together with its local dealer carried out the necessary calculations to create a better working environment for the welding shop. Welding fume extraction with a Push-Pull system is introduced for Fruehauf Wielton welding shop.

  • Three pieces of AC-404 filter units are installed. In order to save valuable floor space in the production area, some of the AC-404 filter units are installed outside, whereas one of them is lifted up over a steel construction.
